Aspiring Places

Community Projects in Argyll and Bute

Thank you to everyone who has taken part in Aspiring Places so far. Your ideas, energy and feedback have helped shape how the platform is developing and how it can best support community‑led projects across Argyll and Bute.

Aspiring Places is a friendly digital space where community groups and organisations can share the projects they would like to carry out and connect with others doing great work across the area. Our aim is to build a vibrant collection of community projects that encourages collaboration, celebrates local ideas, and helps us all work together to make Argyll and Bute an even better place to live, work and visit.

What Aspiring Places Can Help Community Groups and Organisations Do:

  1. Share your group’s ideas and aspirations by publishing your project proposals.
  2. Connect with other like‑minded groups who may be working on similar challenges or opportunities.
  3. Raise the profile of your planned work, making it easier for others to learn about what matters to your community.
  4. Save time by creating one project proposal that you can keep up to date and build on over time.

What Aspiring Places Helps the Council Do:

  1. Become more aware of the range of community projects across Argyll and Bute.
  2. Plan future support for community groups and organisations.
  3. Help us understand what matters most to local communities.
  4. Guide funders on priorities and gaps specific to Argyll and Bute.

Funding in 2026

While Aspiring Places remains a place to share and connect, the Council will not be using the site to match projects with funding during 2026. This is because the Council is carrying out a review of our internal approach to grant management, so we can make good, well‑informed decisions for the future. Click here to read our update for more information.

In 2026, all external funding opportunities will be promoted through the Funding Alert, and each will have its own separate application process. Click here to sign up for the Funding Alert.

Keep Sharing Your Projects

Even though Expressions of Interest for external funding opportunities won’t run through Aspiring Places this year, we would love you to keep sharing your projects. Doing so helps build visibility, strengthens collaboration and keeps us all connected with the amazing ideas happening across Argyll and Bute.
