Reviewing Expressions of Interest

Fund Information

-

The Scottish Government have launched the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF). We welcome Expressions of Interest from community organisations with projects ready to commence during the 2026 to 2027 financial year.

The RCGF will streamline the funding previously delivered through the Vacant and Derelict Investment Programme and the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund to support place based community-led regeneration in our most disadvantaged communities.

The programme will help to address persistent vacant and derelict land as well as supporting locally developed, place-based regeneration projects that involve local communities, helping to tackle inequalities and improving the economic, social and physical environment of deprived, disadvantaged and fragile remote communities across Scotland.

Projects should:

  • Focus on areas that suffer from high levels of deprivation and disadvantage
  • Demonstrate clear community involvement
  • Deliver large scale transformational change with strong regeneration outcomes
  • Encourage additional investment and address market failure in communities

Applications are not restricted in geography, size or type of project; it will be for the applicant to demonstrate that the project fits with the aims and objectives of the fund.

Reviewing Expressions of Interest

-

What happens after you submit your expression of interest?

We will review submitted expressions of interest following the deadline taking into consideration the fund guidance and fit with Council policies. We expect that there will be a maximum of 5 applications submitted.

If a project is selected to proceed to make a formal expression of interest to the Scottish Government, the community organisation will be asked to draft the application, with support of Council Officers. The application will seek confirmation of costs, match funding, timescales and mechanisms for delivery as well as demonstrating a need for the project. It is anticipated that applications will be submitted in June 2025 with notification of which projects are successful during the autumn.

A second stage of application, involving a detailed application form, will be required to be completed for submission in November 2025 for those projects confirmed as successful at stage 1. Notification of awards of funding are expected early in 2026.

If successful, it will be the community organisations responsibility to manage project delivery and ensure that the funding is spent in accordance with the conditions of grant including project commencement in 2026/27 financial year.

The decision on which projects receive funding will be made by the Scottish Government.
