Sandbank’s Community Action Plan for 2024-2029 sets out a vision for everyone to work together to ensure that Sandbank is a cohesive and friendly place to live, work and visit. A key theme identified within the Community Action Plan is a ‘Sense of Community’, which highlights the community’s priorities to:
- Promote events and bring people together
- Ensure community organisations work better together
- Improve communications.
This project aims to address the ‘Sense of Community’ priorities by implementing a physical noticeboard in a central village location and redesign Sandbank Community Development Trust’s website to entice more visitors and ensure that key information about updates and events are more accessible to all.
Successful delivery of this project will enable community groups and business to collaborate by sharing key information about important projects and events, which in turn will increase use of community facilities and have a positive impact on the local economy.
The approach to provide physical and digital solutions supports an inclusive approach, catering for the younger and older generations that form Sandbank’s population. More events and inclusivity can have a positive effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing. An added benefit of using digital tools is reducing use of paper to minimise any environmental impacts associated with more traditional methods.
The project will be facilitated by Sandbank Community Development Trust and will commence once a Steering Group (made up of volunteers) is formed. The aim is deliver this project over the next 12 months and beyond. The Steering Group will engage with the community (organisations, residents and volunteers) for further input on the implementation and to explore funding options.
