Cove and Kilcreggan Book Festival is set over a weekend in Cove Burgh Hall, a cummunity run village hall in Cove, Argyll. Funding is required to enable us to bring 8 Authors and Chairs to speak. The Book Festival is a huge community event with over 50 volunteers, who do everything from making soup to homebaking, drivers who transport the authors and chairs from Glasgow Airport and local train stations, ticket sales, book sales and hospitality. The Book Festival is now in it's 12th year and allows people who would not normally access this type of event , the opportunity to meet with the authors. All funds raised from the Book Festival go toward the upkeep of Cove Burgh Hall, ensuring that local community groups get access to a warm, wind and watertight venue. The hall holds a max of 160 audience members for each event and we are now at the stage that most events are fully booked. To ensure that the event is accessible to all, ticket pricing is kept to a minimum and weekend passes are offerred to local community groups ie Centre 81, Helensburgh Carers, Helensburgh Community Hub, Garelochhead Support Trust etc to encourage them to attend.
