•Proposal code: AP-2025-08-162
Strengthening our plans, policies, and capacity for a resilient future.
Estimated Price
7000
Hynish Trust is seeking funding to build on previous work and strengthen our contribution to island economic regeneration. This project will enable us to update and refine our Development Plan, Business Case, and Operations Plan, ensuring they reflect current priorities and community needs. It will also support the establishment of a core ‘resources toolkit’ for our new SCIO and team, enhancing our capacity to prepare robust funding submissions and bids. As part of this process, we will review and update all organisational policies to ensure compliance, resilience, and readiness for future growth. This investment will help us move forward with clarity, confidence, and a renewed commitment to inclusive, heritage-led development.
1. What do you want to do?
This project will ensure Hynish Trust has the essential documentation and governance tools to deliver on its Vision and move confidently into its next phase of development. It will allow the Board to define a clear, project-based programme underpinned by a target funding route-map and updated Business Case. The work will also ensure all organisational policies are reviewed and refreshed to support operational resilience and readiness.
Key Outputs:
• Updated Development Plan and Business Case
• Draft Operations Plan 2026–2029
• Local Engagement Event – a participatory ‘Hynish Event Day’ to share draft proposals and build support across our diverse island communities
• Full policy review and update to ensure compliance, transparency, and readiness
2. Why is your project needed?
Hynish Trust was formally constituted in February 2025 with a new Board and SCIO Articles. Establishing the SCIO, securing governance, and progressing asset transfer have been major milestones. The Trust now needs to build on this foundation by advancing its core purpose and programme. A refreshed Development Plan and Business Case will provide strategic clarity, while updated policies and drafting an operational plan will ensure the organisation is fit for purpose.
We hope to employ 2 new members of the team early in 2026 and we would like them to have a resources toolkit to use going forward and to input into the draft Operational Plan. Thereafter this would be finalised.
To support this, the Board proposes hosting a further ‘Hynish Event Day’ in early 2026— to share ideas and to engage the community in shaping its future programme.
3. What positive changes will your project bring about?
• It will equip Hynish Trust with the documentation, planning tools, and governance frameworks needed to deliver its Vision with confidence and clarity.
• It will enable the Board to define a clear, project-based programme aligned with a target funding route-map to assist the new team
• It will strengthen the Trust’s ability to support island-wide regeneration through enterprise, housing, health and wellbeing, and heritage.
• Beneficiaries will include individuals and groups across Tiree, with a focus on:
• Creating enterprise and economic opportunities for islanders
• Supporting skills, crafts, arts, and training rooted in local heritage
4. Project Duration
• Start Date: 01/11/2025
• End Date: 26/02/2026
• Duration: 4 months
