Improvements to the access and ease of use for visitors to the public picnic area next to the Old Pier in Kilchattan Bay.

* We are proposing the installation of an open shelter within the picnic area and landscaping of the surrounding spaces. This will include replacing the wooden pilings, which border the area, with traditional stone to match the surrounding buildings. * The shelter will allow visitors to shelter from the rain whilst picnicking and obtain shade on hotter days. Landscaping will allow wheelchair access to all of the picnic area and between the shelter and the toilets. * Walkers and cyclists who frequently stop at the Pier to use the toilets can also seek shelter from rain. As an outdoor meeting space and hub of village activity during the summer, these improvements will further encourage Community gatherings and events. Replacing wooden pilings with stone will enhance the visual beauty of the area. * Once constructed these facilities would be available all year for the foreseeable future and require minimum maintenance.
