Our association is working to improve sport, play and leisure facilities on KGV Park Ardrishaig by noting the opportunity to seek capital funding investment for the benefits that could be provided to the local community. The intention being to form a field playable throughout the year and capable of holding sports and non-sports events.The field will be upgraded with new sports field drainage and high quality grass with some reconfiguration. In addition the field shall meet the standards and regulations for sizing and run offs.The historical KGV park( approaching 100 years since foundation)is situated adjacent to local primary school. It has been several years since this community asset was utilised to it's full extent. A recent survey showed overwhelming support shown for sports, recreation and events that would fully utilise the KGV playing field if restored to it's full safe condition. As the school has one of the higher pupil rolls in argyll this will restore some balance. The school will utilise the field for many activities.Several studies exist that prove there is a positive association between participation in sports and physical activity and academic achievement in young people.Community and school engagement activities were conducted as online survey, supporting hard copies, door to door surveys, primary and secondary school surveys,engagement with council officers and elected members. The degradation of KGV park is high on agenda for all who participated and in particular the repair and restoration of the playing field into a safe, secure and quality surface which the community can be proud of. A recent feasibility study and robust business plan and risk assessment identified the need for this. When we monitor how rural Scotland is changing, focusing on population trends, the lives of young people, the levels of poverty and disadvantages. Ardrishaig, compared to other areas in and outwith Argyll is disadvantaged regards rural inequalities. The importance of a grass surface playing field for youth teams growth and development is of the utmost importance. Expected project timeline is 6 months Early to Mid 2026.
