Keeping it Local CIC is responding to a growing and urgent local need. We continue to receive increasing referrals from statutory and third-sector partners who lack the infrastructure, staffing, or premises to support residents—particularly older people and digitally excluded individuals—with everyday tasks that now rely on digital tools. These referrals range from help with online appointments and form-filling to accessing community services or managing essential digital communications. The gap in local capacity has become a serious barrier to inclusion, wellbeing, and economic participation.

As a trusted, place-based organisation with a central premises in Campbeltown and an active digital presence across Kintyre and Gigha, Keeping it Local CIC is well positioned to respond with targeted, practical solutions. This proposal seeks to invest in three integrated areas to meet current and future demand:

Expansion of the Community Digital Signage Network

We will enhance and futureproof our existing network of digital signage screens—already serving 12 villages, 17 businesses and care settings across Kintyre and Gigha—by upgrading ageing and out of date hardware and improving performance. This ensures local businesses, community groups, and visitors benefit from real-time, dynamic, and hyper-local information, while also increasing the sustainability of our social enterprise through improved advertising capacity.

Creation of a Shared, Supported Hot Desking and Digital Inclusion Space

Within our Campbeltown premises, we will develop a flexible, welcoming hot desking hub, specifically designed to support both remote workers and vulnerable individuals—especially older residents—who require assistance navigating digital services. The space will include supported sessions for elderly and digitally excluded people, building confidence in using online tools for healthcare, travel, finance, and communication. This will also support local entrepreneurs, freelancers, and all third sector partners with affordable, shared workspace.

Resilient Print and Design Service Upgrade

As a vital part of our community offering, we will upgrade our print equipment to ensure fast, reliable production of community materials, business support documents, emergency notices, and high-quality promotional assets. This upgrade will underpin local resilience efforts, including printed guides for those not online, and rapid-turnaround services for al local groups and businesses large and small.

Together, these improvements will support economic regeneration, digital participation, and inclusive access to services—building on Keeping it Local CIC’s proven track record of community delivery across Kintyre and Gigha.
