Step-Up is a new community-focused project that will see development of a low ropes course at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre, designed to enhance the centre’s existing outdoor learning programme and support a new employability scheme targeting young people and individuals facing barriers to work. The course will provide a safe, structured environment for developing teamwork, communication, and confidence.
The low ropes course will:
Feature a series of ground-level and near-ground challenges (e.g., balance beams, rope bridges, swinging logs).
Be designed to require cooperation, problem-solving, and leadership.
This ropes course is part of a wider employability programme that will:
Engage young people (16–25), long-term unemployed individuals, and others with barriers to employment.
Offer accredited training in teamwork, leadership, communication, and health and safety.
Participants will gain:
Confidence and resilience through physical and mental challenges.
Teamwork skills through facing challenges and working with others
Pathways into further training, volunteering, or employment within outdoor education or related fields.
