1. What do you want to do?

MISS is an early pregnancy loss charity with services in Grampian, Moray and Tayside. After a survey with over 200 responses was conducted in this area, it was very clear the need for this support. We already have a volunteer who has been very committed and this will grow with the hope of future funding. Our aim is to start a support group in this area as well as deliver memory boxes (how to remember baby including flower seeds and a candle), support packs (include self care and therapeutic items) and this will require technical equipment (including laptop, mouse, marketing materials) as well as provide a staff role in community engagement for 15 hours per week. at £14 per hour.

2. Why is your project needed?

There is no early pregnancy loss support in this area and its very clear from the survey results and local social media posts, how much it is needed. 1 in 4 women are likely to suffer a miscarriage in their lifetime, and currently bereaved parents are going through this alone and not talking about it which is having long term effects on their mental health and wellbeing as well as relationships.

3. What positive changes will your project bring about?

Reduce isolation and build friendships by attending support groups. As well as finding coping techniques and how to move forward after an early pregnancy loss. The memory boxes can be taken with bereaved parents to their home and use on milestones and anniversaries. With the support packs, they will improve bereaved parents mental health and wellbeing by looking after themselves. Items include face mask, herbal tea, journalling tips and Doterra essential oil. All of this will help to raise awareness about early pregnancy loss and show that there is support available through MISS.

4. How long will your project run for?

The project will start on: 01/08/2025

The project will run for : 6 months
