1. What do you want to do? (Clearly list the activities you need funding for)
We would like to refurbish the Broadfoot Room as a comfortable meeting room. It needs a new carpet and curtains/blinds, and walls/ceilings painted. We have a donated table and 8 comfortable chairs which will be suitable as a 'conference table'. We have also had 2 office cupboards kindly donated by Dalmally GP surgery. We may need to install new heaters, subject to professional review of the existing ones.
We want to buy a large screen TV as a computer monitor and display screen. We would also like to get Teams meeting room kit such as MAXHUB XT10-VB. This is our initial idea, and we will refine it. For example, we already have a good webcam donated by the NHS which we can use in this room, so may be able to buy a more basic kit.
We also want to get broadband for the hall. Ideally we would like funding for 2 years of broadband, to allow sufficient time to assess use and future need. The broadband will be of benefit to all hall users, not just users of the Broadfoot Room.
We will offer support and basic training to those wishing to use the technology.
2. Why is your project needed?
The hall is lacking a good meeting room, and therefore cannot be used by local groups and larger organisations. This is particularly the case where individuals wish to join in with a networked meeting. Many potential hirers want to use web resources. Our recent community engagement report identified a need and a wish for broadband.
3. What positive changes will your project bring about?
The NHS has expressed interest in running training courses there, such as Heart Start. We recently obtained a defibrillator for the hall, and would like to provide training to use it, and training in CPR. But this all requires wifi. We would like to progress to offering IT training courses, and linking in to training and education provided from elsewhere. We also hope the meeting room and broadband will make the hall suitable for use by more community groups. We know that at the moment they go to halls in nearby villages, as they have wifi, but would rather use the Victory Hall. For example a needlework group wanted to book a regular room, but they needed to use web resources as part of their work, so they went to North Connel.
4. How long will your project run for?
Two years.
