Proposal code: AP-2025-06-113

We hope to improve the facilities at Rhu Hall, built in 1905 by public subscription for the local people, to increase use and comfort for everyone, young and old, for our future sustainability.

Estimated Price

40000

1. Our improvements consist of new insulated, draughtproof external doors and zoning controls to the heating system, stopping us having to heat everywhere when only one room is needed. This will reduce energy use and cost while improving the comfort for groups using the hall. We intend to add two toilets to the existing provision of 2, to allow increased use of the hall which can hold 100, and insulate and reline a derelict space to make good storage.

2: We are a voluntary committee, serving the village of Rhu and adjacent areas. The hall houses the local nursery as well as a baby and toddler group and many other social and fitness activities, bringing people together. We have an active Edible Garden project using the hall gardens, with volunteer sessions for all ages and abilities, improving mental and physical healthand well being from activities and companionship outside. The focus is on growing vegetables and healthy eating, providing community meals twice a year.

3: Insulated and draught-stripped external doors will improve our users comfort and, together with zoning controls, use less energy more efficiently. Increased toilet provision will allow greater use of the hall  by many groups, including the local school. Improvements to storage will benefit many, especially the nursery and toddlers group.

4: Project duration 4 months. Estimated start date September 2025
